Slukat Learning Center

Spending the last month teaching English has been an enriching experience. At first we were both a bit hesitant and overwhelmed at our month long project. But it was easy to fall into the daily routine of exploring our surroundings during the morning then teaching for 3 hours in the afternoons. The students with their eagerness and smiling faces made it a stress free experience with not very high expectations. During your classroom time it was up to you to decide what the agenda was. Which in time included a lot of soccer, painting, dancing, and games. I think through conversations and fun interactions was the best approach to teaching English. Being there for a whole month was a great way to learn about what the “real” Bali is all about. At home sometimes a month feels like it drags by, but it felt like in no time our time was already up and without even realizing it I was attached to the place. I hope that even though we were there for a short period of time, that we made a difference in these kids lives, because I know they did in mine.
