Another late post, But a tasty one! When we were in Chaing Mai- Thailand, we took a full day cooking course with Green Farm that made us feel gluttonous. In the morning they took us to a local market where we saw how coconut milk and coconut flakes are made (With a big machine)! We also learned about the different types of rice. Food is CHEAP in Thailand, at the market we saw big bags of cherry tomatoes for 20 baht which is 70 cents, and bags of strawberries for $1.50! We also caught a glimpses of their meat and seafood section. It amazes me how strong our stomachs really must be!
Once at the farm, we got a tour of their organic farm, and all of their produce that they grow there. Pineapples, bananas, mango, papaya, tamarind basil, chili peppers, garlic, there was lots more but thats all i can remember.
Then came the COOKING and then the EATING! We each cooked 5 different meals! My selection for the day was Coconut Soup, Green Curry, Sweet and Sour chicken, Spring Rolls, and to top it all of Banana Coconut Palm Sugar dessert! My the second course i was having food sweats! Or maybe that was from the heat?! Either way I wore my stretchy pants that day ;-).
It was a cool experience to learn how to make traditional Thai food, in an outdoor kitchen with a farm view! The highlight of the day was making our own curry paste and walking away with a recipe book to be able to re create all these delicious meals for you guys when we get back home!
